L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

I can get pretty stuck in my ways - we all can. We like what we like, and venturing out of that comfort zone can be surprisingly scary, especially with skin care. It only takes one product to give you an outbreak or mess your skins PH up slightly and that's it. All hell breaks loose. I have my skin favourites and don't tend to want to veer away from them. I tried Bioderma and despite pretty much the whole world loving it, I didn't find it particularly amazing - yes I have it, but I don't use it every day like some. Plus, it was so hard to get your hands on previously that it seemed like all too much effort, especially as I was happy with my current routine. Then came the hype of the L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution. Many had compared it to Bioderma, some had said it was better even, so when I picked it up in Boots a few weeks back to see if this really was worth the talk.

Micellar is a type of alcohol free make up remover, which has oil in the water without you being able to see it there, and being so light that it doesn't leave a greasy residue. It's pretty magical. It means that it works for all skin types and is great at getting your days makeup off easily and quickly. From the bottle, it does just look like water. Some of my favourites cleansers and toners are of a water consistency so this ticked the first box. I have been using this as a sort of 'pre cleanser'. I absolutely love taking my makeup off after a long day at work, and this offering from L'Oreal has proved pretty damn efficient. I pop some of the solution onto a cotton pad, and start working on the eye area first. Mascara is a fav of mine so it often takes a few goes to take off the black formula, but this did it relatively quickly. Then I work on the face, and this usually takes two cotton pads. You'll be surprised at just how much this takes off your face in a short space of time, and so it works perfectly if you're on the go or need to be quicker than usual. I've also used this on my lips when I've been wearing brighter lippie and need to get all the colour off (no red residue please!) and this worked fantastically. My only downside? I really dislike the cap and the lack of a nozzle. I find the solution runs out extremely quickly onto a cotton pad and can near to soak it - I'd love it if there was a form of a nozzle so you could direct the solution a bit easier. But of course, this is a personal thing.

For me, this is now my 'go to' product when I want a quick pre cleanse or to quickly take my makeup off after a long day. I find with this product that you can easily bat back and forth from a variety of products without it being too harsh on your skin or irritating your face. I still have my favourite products, but this one slots perfectly into the loving family. If you use face wipes, dump them. This is a better formula, nicer to your skin and just as quick. If you want a quick cleanse, this is also a good buy, as well as if you want a cheaper version of Bioderma. At £4.99, it's a bit of a money steal - watch out Bioderma...you have competition!

Wishlist: Clutch Bags

24 June 2013

I am partial to a clutch or two. There is something lovely about having a bag with no straps, holding it under your arm whilst you chat to friends with a glass of bubbly. I was doing this just last night with my Mulberry Bayswater clutch and it got me thinking about some new purchases. Clutches are perfect for any occasion, but I love them for holidays and bbq parties, where you don't want to cart around much. Simplistic yet beautiful.

bags

001. This Croc Clutch from Whistles is one I've had on my 'to buy' list for a while. It is so simple and stunning, and I could see me using it for so many occasions. Whistles always do beautiful clutches, and it's no surprise that a lot of my fav fashion bloggers are seen regularly with these.

002. I adore this bright fuschia Faux Pony Zip Top clutch from ASOS. It would be the perfect pop of colour for any outfit - plus, it's oversized meaning you can squeeze a fair bit in...result!

003. If money was no object, I'd be burning plastic now to have this Saint Laurent bag in my life. Again, so so simple but it would be the perfect addition to any outfit, which is something I love about nude clutches. They are just so useable!

004. For more casual events, this Black Fringed clutch  from New Look would be the one I'd go for. I'd wear this with a sundress and some ankle boots. I always used to be wary of fringed items for some reason, but now I'm really enjoying them!

005. Another 'if money was no object' buy. Honestly, I don't need any more Mulberry bags right now. I'm very lucky in that I own a fair few, but this would be my main buy if I was to treat myself. The mint colour of this Willow Clutch is just to die for!

006. Finally, I'm not sure what it is about this Star Clutch Bag from Zara, but I really like it. It's got a tribal feel about it and I think that is what's swaying me. Plus, it's in the sale (which is definitely swaying me!)

Do you guys like clutch bags as much as me? The wishlist could have been endless but I had to reel myself in a little (whoops!)

The Simple Bronzed Face

14 June 2013

IMG_7304-001

As it's getting slightly (and I say slightly in the lightest form) more like Summer, my make-up collection seems to have a switch around. I revisit items I haven't seen in a few months and gasp in wonder at how good I forgot they were, which is one of my favourite things about make-up - shopping your stash can be so much fun.

I have a mixture of fair/olive skin that tans easily and bronzes up quickly in the sun, so my foundation shades can vary in the Summer months, as can bronzers. As the sun has been gracing us with its presence a few times recently, I've been editing my skincare routine slightly. After the usual skin cleansing, toning schabang, I've been reaching for the St Tropez Everyday Moisturiser For Face in the shade Medium Dark. I only have to use a little amount of this and my skin gets a natural sunkissed radiance which I find a staple as a base for my Summer face products. It's an every day gradual tan moisturiser so it keeps your face feeling supple and hydrated, as well as giving a gorgeous glow. St Tropez is one of my all time fav tanning brands - from the scent to the application, it suits me well and I find it really affordable, and this little 60ml bottle keeps me going for yonks! Instead of foundation, I've been reaching for BB creams or tinted moisturisers - I hate feeling suffocated by face products and they're just a lot lighter on the skin, keeping all the goodness of foundation. In the last few weeks, I've been returning to my fav Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser from Laura Mercier in the shade Warm Radiance. I absolutely adore this formula - the illuminating version is different from other Laura Mercier tinted moisturisers. It has a real glow about it, highlights your face and gives you decent coverage, as well as SPF 20. For me, this is a real winner after a day in the sun. It gives you the 'just been on holiday' feel and it's a complete fav of mine. If you hate too much glow, then the normal tinted moisturisers from LM will probably work better for you, but I'm all about the glow ;) After this, a sweep of bronzer is all I want on my cheeks. I adore the Pure Finish Bronze Powder from Elizabeth Arden, partly because of it's gorgeous rose gold packaging for aesthetics, but because it gives you the perfect shade of bronze - not to brown and not at all orange. Again, if you like matte bronzers, this isn't one for you as it does have slight shimmer in it, but I find this works so well with the LM Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser.

That's the face done - simple. Then all you need is to add eye make-up and lip product of choice and you're ready to roll. I just hope Summer makes a longer appearance so I can wear this easy combo for longer!!

ALSO: I haven't asked this yet, but if you follow me on GFC and enjoy my blogposts and YT uploads, I would massively appreciate it if you could follow me on BlogLovin' here. Apparently GFC is being deleted next month, and I appreciate all of my readers so much - it would be horrible to lose some of you guys!

Clarins HydraQuench Cream Mask

11 June 2013

IMG_7297-001

Well over a year now, I ran into my local skincare boutique and begged the owner to find something that would help my parched skin feel like it had some life in it again. I suffer from nasty bouts of dry skin at various points through the year that makes your face feel so tight, it can't move - larrrvly. 'Try this - it's the HydraQuench Cream Mask from Clarins.' She gave me some generous 30ml samples and off I ran home excited to try the miracle cream that evening. As I said, it's over a year ago that this happened, and I am still very much in love with the same mask she suggested.

Clarins has a whole range of HydraQuench products, specifically tailored for dehydrated skin (of which I own them all..but that's another shopping related story..). The mask is a slightly more concentrated form of a daily moisturiser. I love the moisturiser, but sometimes, your skin just needs that extra boost - this is where on a normal evening I'd probably grab the Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask, but occasionally, my skin needs a tad more hydration. This is when I go for the HydraQuench Mask. Application is simple - apply to the face and neck, and leave to do it's magic for 5-10 minutes. You can wipe away any excess but because my skin is usually crying for moisture, I leave any excess on. The formula is thicker and creamier than a moisturiser, and quite right too - this is an intensive mask we're after. Some people are known to put a real 'mask' on, but I find you don't actually need to put too much product on. As long as there is enough to cover your face, you know the ingredients will get down to the nitty gritty. So what ingredients are involved that make this so wonderful? Well there's Hyaluronic Acid which forms a magic barrier to keep all that well needed moisture in, Katafray Bark (which is from a tree in Madagascar) which helps to soothe and fortify the skin, and Sorbier Bud which activates skin microcirculation to help skin looking young and healthy looking. So lots of well travelled ingredients there, and we all know and love the benefits of Hyaluronic Acid don't we ladies. Ticks lots of boxes. Most of all, it leaves my skin feeling soft, fuller and massively hydrated. This isn't a mask to use daily, sometimes not even weekly. I go for this when my skin is feeling particularly parched so it gets the full intensive treatment it needs and deserves.

So I've been using this for over a year now as well as repurchasing around three times. It has stood the test of time with me and in my skincare favourites it will stay. As an 'intensive mask', this ticks many a box for me. It's soft, creamy, luxurious and does what it needs to do. My skin is left smiling, radiant and happy, and that always makes for a happy Tamsin. A 75ml tube usually retails at £33, but Escentual are currently doing 20% off Clarins, so you can grab it quickly at £26.40 here - you can thank me later ;)

I was very lucky yesterday and had a visitor in the name of Steph from Stephanie Dreams. We did lunch, did some shopping, Steph bought some bits and bobs for her wedding, we took photos, sat in a field of buttercups, were stalked by cows and generally had a lovely day in the sun. It was so good to have a catch up with her :)

If you enjoy, please like and subscribe to my channel and thank you for watching :)

Recipe: Mickey Mouse Oreo Crumble Cupcakes

1 June 2013

IMG_7224-001

As a self confessed Disney obsessive, I have to fill my Disney needs daily. Today, this was through cupcakes. If you follow my Pinterest, you will know I spend a lot of time pinning Disney favs, and I find so much inspiration through Pinterest. My Mum is going into hospital on Monday for a big operation, and so I decided that tonight, we're going to have a cupcake each whilst watching Tangled, snuggled with the dogs and the cat. I make all my cupcakes from scratch and generally make them up as I go along (hence the fact I threw a whole load of Oreos into the batter!) but you can make this easier by using a ready mix box which I will list below:

001. Mix a box of Betty Crocker Devils Food Cupcake mix with 2 eggs, oil, and water.

002. Crumble in as many Oreo's as you want. I used 3 Mini Oreo packets.

003. Pop in the oven at 170 degrees for 15 minutes.

004. Once cooled, mix up whatever frosting you're using and pipe onto the cupcakes.

005. Assemble two Mini Oreos as ears.

On my cupcakes, I've also sprayed the top with a gold spray by Dr Oetker. I find this gives it a really nice magical effect. Putting the cupcakes in polkadot cases also emphasise the Disney effect! When you bite into the middle, the cakes should be soft, moist and full of Oreo goodness. Nomanom. There are so many different ways you can do Disney cupcakes and I'm always experimenting. For Minnie Mouse, its fun to get little bows and put them between the Oreo ears, or you can lay a big Oreo flat on the icing, and then have the two Mini Oreo ears next to it for a larger Mickey Mouse effect. It's more of an assembly process ;)

I personally find these so magical to look at, and definitely magical to eat. They fill all my Disney needs :)
