Midweek Update

18 January 2012

001. Looking at your His and Hers calendar and seeing 'At sea' for most of this year on his side of the calendar is nothing fun to look at. However, for every day that has gone is another day complete and nearer to being home.

002. I've been watching my Ab Fab box set religiously at the moment. It's one of my fave programmes ever and I loved the Christmas specials they did over the holidays. I'd love to have a party with Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley. I reckon they'd be absolute babes. Or indeed, absolutely fabulous.

003. I've got some form of virus at the moment which is giving me a fever all through the night. I have no idea what it is and I'm just feeling so pants constantly. Wednesday nights are one of my only free nights during the week, so I'm going to have a pamper night, do my nails and put one of these Montagne Jeunesse face packs on whilst watching One Born Every Minute. I really hope it makes me feel a little better.

004. This months little joke on the top of my His and Hers calendar. It makes me laugh every time I see it when I wake up!

005. My new fav cereal..Special K Oats and Honey. My students told me to try it after I'd seen them bringing their boxes of it down to breakfast, and they're so right about it being gorgeously yummy to wake up to in the morning. It really keeps me full till lunch too.

006. Just me being all mopey and sleepy. I feel like I could sleep for a lifetime at the moment. I don't think it helps that it's so cold at the moment. In all my free time, I want to get into bed in a hoody and trackies and just try and get warm!

Hope you're all having a good week.

Tigi Rockaholic 'Livin' The Dream' Conditioner

14 January 2012

I've always been a massive fan of the Tigi hair products as they use it in the salon where I get my hair dyed. My absolute favourite ever of the Tigi products was their Catwalk Oatmeal and Honey shampoo and conditioner. I'm pretty certain it's been discontinued now, but sometimes I get lucky on remaining stock on eBay and Amazon. Since it got discontinued, I've been on the hunt for my fave Tigi shampoo/conditioner which brings in my latest buy, Rockaholic 'Livin' the Dream' Conditioner + Energy.

Most of you will know that a great place to pick up beauty/haircare items is in TK Maxx. It can be very hit and miss, but I often manage to pick up a Tigi bargain there. This conditioner (and it's matching shampoo) sell at £9.95 but I picked it up for £3. Can't complain can I really :) I've never used the Rockaholic line before so I'm excited to try it. I know that some people don't use conditioner that much, but because of the amount I dye my hair, I have to keep it nourished, so I'm always after a good conditioner.

I've checked out some reviews and so far, it sounds like it will be a good conditioner to try. It's apparently got Green Tea, Goji Berries, Gotu Kola and minerals in - it all sounds very exotic! Bring on the test and trial, and you will have a review from me very soon :)

What is your fave Tigi product? Let me know!

ps: If anyone would like to do a button swap, I'm going to be doing a blog roll soon. No payment at all :) let me know!

Storage - Everyday Makeup Letter Organiser

13 January 2012

I had such lovely feedback on my last storage post and people asking to do more, so I've done exactly that for you all :) This is one of my newer storage items. I wanted something that I could house my current everyday 'go-to products' without having to route through boxes and drawers and such. Obviously, everyday products change when we find new items we love, but this for me makes it easier in the mornings I think, especially at work and I'm bleary eyed. There's currently lots of MAC in lipsticks, blush, strobe cream etc, my beloved Diorskin Forever and Lancome Teint Miracle Foundations, 2 of my holy grail mascara's - Collection 2000 Skyscraper, my new foundation addition Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, Benefit and Sleek palettes, a couple of other lippies, Bourjois Rose Frisson blush and my Chanel no5 and YSL Paris perfumes. Nice and easy to mix and match in the morning :)

This wire looking sectioned basket typet thing is actually a letter organiser. Pretty huh! I bought it from TK Maxx for the princely sum of £9.99. Absolute bargain. I'm a real lover of the whole shabby chic decor which is how my bedroom is decorated, so this fits in perfectly. Because it's sectioned, it makes seeing what I have available so easy. Also, I love being able to store my foundations upright. I can't stand lying them down (kinda OCD!) and it means they're all stood up and looking lovely. I've done some more eBay searching and found some good alternatives to this one.

This is adorable with the little jewelled heart at the front. Loads of room for foundations and the back and lippies at the front! £10.50 with £3.25 postage.

This image shows the ribbon as a demonstration, which does look really pretty. Even so, it gives you a good idea how wide it is and is perfect for all your foundations to stand upright on. £12.00 with £3.50 postage.

Much like the one above, there is more than enough room for palettes and foundations and similar items. I think the decoration of this one is just so pretty! £8.99 with £1.95 postage.

Hope these ideas help you if you're looking to revamp your storage. Like before, I haven't been asked to feature these items by the sellers..I've just found them whilst looking for my own ideas. If they help you then that's great. I do reckon that I might buy one just for my foundations in the future. Happy Friday!

PS: Leave any ideas you'd like for a next giveaway if you comment. I'm nearing a target and am looking for ideas for something lovely :)

Storage - Jewellery and Makeup Ideas from eBay

12 January 2012

Like I said in a post earlier this week, I've been trying to revamp my jewellery and makeup storage. Throwing old things out and mixing it up a little is definitely a good thing, and really does feel refreshing. Whilst I was looking for ideas on eBay, I came across a couple of great storage ideas that I thought might help people if they were interested. They're all pretty cheaply priced too which is a bonus - all under a tenner!

3 Tier Bracelet Display

This is great if you like displaying your jewellery almost shoplike. The 3 bars are removable and you just place your bracelet round the bar. The unit is black velvet too which feels very luxurious. £7.79 with free postage.

Acrylic Nail Polish Display
This is fab for the people who like the clear acylic makeup storage. This can apparently hold 27 polishes but I reckon this would vary depending on the size of the polish. The 3 tiers make it easy for you to see which colour you want to go for. £9.90 with free postage.

Sectioned Display Box

This could be used for any jewellery..possibly some makeup I should think too. There are 12 sections to the box, and the lining is velvet again. The transparent lid makes it easy for you to find the item you want quickly and easily. Perfect! £8.90 with free postage.

Square Revolving Jewellery Stand

For those who love the circular revolving stands that you see around, namely one in Urban Outfitters which is £30 (omg?!) then this could be perfect for you. I love the way this one is square. It means you could have 4 different sections to your jewellery/earrings. It holds 64 pairs on 4 tiers. The best thing about this is there's no large price. £8.95 with £2.25 postage.

So there you go. Just some ideas for your storage. I wasn't contacted by the seller for this to advertise his stock. I just thought it might be handy. I'm thinking of getting the display box! Have you ever bought makeup/jewellery storage from eBay?

fotd: Chanel Perfection Lumiere Sample

11 January 2012

The other week I picked up a sample of the new Chanel foundation coming out called Perfection Lumiere. It will be replacing Pro Lumiere which was a favourite with many bloggers. It is meant to feature a lightweight texture and apparently will stay in place without touch ups for 15 hours..sounds too good to be true right?! Chanel claim it will be a semi-matte type foundation which all skin types will be able to use, with 23 shades available. I was matched with 12 Beige Rose and decided to use it yesterday.

Foundation: Chanel Perfection Lumiere in 12 Beige Rose
Powder: MAC Loose Powder in Natural Flare

Bronzer: Collection 2000 Mosaic Glow
Mascara: Collection 2000 Skyscraper
Lips: MAC Sweet and Single

Highlighter: MAC Strobe Cream

Firstly, it is honestly the best smelling foundation I have ever used. Ever. It's very perfumed, but I don't mind that, so it might not be to some peoples liking but I loved it. Secondly, the semi-matte formula Chanel said it would be is true. It went on quite matte but had a slight sheerness to it, possibly because it's so lightweight. I couldn't feel I had foundation on my face at all! I think the name Perfection Lumiere is a pretty good choice for it..it gave me the 'perfect flawless skin' feel I'm always looking for and seemed to tick the all the boxes.

x

It's being released this Friday 13th (hopefully a good thing?!) so I thought today was a good time to try it. It will be selling at £36. Hope you enjoyed this little pre-release review. Thought it may help anyone who was intrigued by the new release. I think I will be purchasing it :)

Storage - Metallic Heart Ring Bowl

10 January 2012

Popped into a little antique shop yesterday on my way to the post office and came across this gorgeous little bowl for only £6.99. I've been revamping all of my make-up and jewellery storage recently, and this seemed perfect for my rings to go in. It seems nice to have a ring bowl that you can grab something from easily and show off instead of hiding it away in a drawer somewhere, so this really fit the bill. It's about and inch and a half high, and has a gorgeous metallic silver effect on it. Plus, who doesn't love hearts? I haven't put in all my rings yet as I haven't finished my organising, but have also thrown in my everyday work studs until I get a new cute stud earring display. I also need to get a new necklace/dangly earring display.

Do any of you know of any nice stud earring holders? How do you store your jewellery?

Cuban Heel Chelsea Boots

9 January 2012

I think I'm in love. All credit goes to Natalie for finding these boots, as she posted about them in early December time. The minute I saw them, I had to have them. These are River Island Cuban Heel Chelsea Boots but I got them from ASOS in the sale..£40 down to £28..kachinggg. They're the perfect everyday height for me, and didn't break the bank like the Topshop Allegras would (even though they are gorgeous and I would love to get my hands on a pair!). I've always been a 'brown boot' girl (they do these in black though), and these to me are just love personified.

They only have them left in black, but you can find them here.

little haul: giorgio armani foundation and more..

4 January 2012

My boyfriend has been after a new tweed jacket for a while now, so we decided to head to Jermyn Street to find him his perfect item. After him purchasing his new fashion love (words cannot describe how much I love having a boyfriend who loves to shop!!) we both headed to Selfridges so I could buy a new foundation. I've been after a new one for a while, as I have a habit of finding a foundation I love, and just stick with it. My two foundation loves are Diorskin Forever and Lancome Teint Miracle, but I figured it was time to try something new. After seeing Anna rave about Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, I decided to give that a go. At £33, its not cheap, but I've only heard good things so it seems worth it.

I was matched with shade 4.5 which seemed pretty perfect so fingers crossed. I love the bottle..for some reason the frosty glass appeals to me, but it's not the bottle I will be reviewing it on haha! It's oil free which will always be a bonus for me, and it also has no SPF which is fabulous news for the photo taking. Also, gotta love the pump nozzle! I cannot wait to try it! Expect a review asap :)

Other bits and bobs I got were a few new earrings from Forever 21, and I restocked up on some of my holy grail items..yes you guessed it..Eylure Naturalites and my beloved Collection 2000 Skyscraper mascara. I cannot be without these! I also picked up a sample of the new Chanel foundation 'Perfection Lumiere' which I'm excited to try. Lets hope Beige Rose is my shade!

Has anyone else tried the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation? Let me know if you have!

2012 strength

3 January 2012

2012 has been a year I have not been looking forward to. 2012 is going to see me struggle, worry and feel lonely, but I'm strong so I will get there. My boyfriend is in the Royal Navy as some of you may know by now, and he is away for pretty much the whole of this year, starting from next week. The month of May will see him disappear until after Christmas. It's mad to be looking so far ahead and dreading, but we're trying to look to the future and count down the days..somehow it makes it all go quicker. I choose this life of being a 'military wag' and I wouldn't change it for the whole world, but believe me, it can be hard, lonely, challenging and it definitely isn't glamorous. 2012 will still be a good year - not bad, just challenging. I know I will have so many great times ahead. Please stick with me through this journey. I'm glad I have found such fabulous friends through blogging, and I will need lots of you by my side.

Have a great 2012 everyone.
