sniffle saviours

20 October 2011

If you follow me on twitter, you will have seen me moaning about an awful cold I came down with last Saturday. I never get sniffle colds where you have blocked noses and the like (I usually get more throaty illnesses like throat infections) but my GOSH this one has made up for lost time indeed. It started making a full appearance whilst out shopping with Abby on Sunday, and we're now on day 5 of this hellish cold. I'm not gona lie, I look and feel pretty awful so obviously no FOTD's or the like, so I thought I'd do a post about the three items that I've relied on whilst at work.

Carmex classic tube: My lips have been beyond chapped this week, and I always go back to my trusty Carmex when I need more moisturising and healing than anything else. The phenol in Carmex numbs your lips (I love this sensation) and removes dead skin, and the camphor relieves the pain. I have been applying this like crazy and my God it works.

Sudocrem: I've had a huge case of the sniffles, and the nose blowing (as nasty as it is) has been off the scale. The skin between my nose and lips has been so sore because of this, and I've been applying my Sudocrem around the nose before bed and during the day (if I'm not going out haha!). It really soothes and calms the sore skin, and the added antiseptic in it helps the soreness also. I don't care if I have a white moustache when I go to bed - it helps!

Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation: I've reviewed this foundation here and I really do love it as my alternate to Diorskin Forever. The thing I love most about this foundation is the way is truly makes your skin look like it has nothing on, and gives such a flawless impression. I've only been putting the foundation on when I've been teaching or had to pop out of the house, and it certainly makes you feel a lot better about yourself, but doesn't make you feel like you've caked your face in foundation. It's been a lifesaver.

Not your normal beauty post, but it's certainly helped me get through the blocked nose, streaming eyes and tissues in the last few days! It's now half term for our school - hurrah! The staff have been dropping to their feet with tiredness and illness, so I now have 10 days to relax and spend time with my family and friends. Lovely!

*Don't forget my Eylure and Elegant Touch giveaway - ends tomorrow at midnight and will be announced on Saturday.

  2. Aw honey I really hope you feel better soon, sounds like the cold is clinging on for dear life! Bloody things.

This was great, we're all going to suffer with at least one cold this winter so its good to know what might help! I am never without a pot of carmex, my fricking lips are so dry all year round and I love the numbly (tingly and numb) sensation too!

Big hugs and feel better! xxx
