MAC Strobe Cream

23 October 2011

The perks of having an all beauty makeup therapist mum is fantastic. Occasionally, I inherit items from her that she hasn't got round to using that much. A more recent example of this is when she gave me Strobe Cream from MAC.

Mac describe Strobe Cream as ' The ultimate quick fix for the skin. Super-powered with potent botanticals; de snoozes, de- stresses , moistens, freshens and boosts the look of dull, flat or tired looking skin with a fully loaded vitamin zap and a mega dose of green tea. Brightens and clarifies with iridescent particles and antioxidants. Enchances the effects of light on all skin and in all lighting conditions from sunlight to spotlight.'

Now, I have been using this almost as an illuminant on my cheekbones, but I know a lot of people use this with tinted moisturisers or under foundation, so it's a product that can be used many ways which is a bonus!

Consistency isn't too thick but holds its ground. It smells slightly fragranced of something light and airy, and of nothing that would irritate the skin. When blended in, it doesn't feel heavy on your skin or too greasy. Hopefully you can see in the photo with the flash that it isn't over-shimmery as some highlighters or glow creams can be. It's more pearly and iridescent which I absolutely love. I've been using it on my cheekbones and sometimes under my brow bone, and it really is a gorgeous additive to makeup. I must try it under foundation when I'm feeling a little better. I should imagine this works wonders in the summer with a tan in the evenings! I can't wait to try it out when we eventually get to next summer.

MAC Strobe Cream isn't cheap. You can get a lot of highlighters or glow creams a lot cheaper, but I think you get what you pay for - it does what it says on the tin. For £12.00 you can get 30ml, but I have the 50ml bottle which is £21.50, but it will last you ages, as a little goes a long way. Unfortunately I have no photo of it on my face, but I will make sure I have it on in my next FOTD!

  2. I tend to steer clear of highlighters unless on a night out purely because my face is so shiny and gross anyway that it doesn't need any help! I like how this leaves more of a pearly sheen than actual glitter tho, looks lovely on your hand! xx
