fotd: day in, day out

27 September 2011

Just a normal day at school today. The boarding house is busy with girls worrying about UCAS, personal statements and predictive grades, and so I seem to have turned into a form of agony aunt! I've not been too well recently with what appears to be a kidney infection, so had a nasty blood test this morning. I'm fine with blood tests and needles, but blood tests don't really like me and I often faint (thankfully I didn't today!) However, I now have a lovely fat raised bruise on my arm. Beautiful.

Just a quick FOTD today. I was in a rush to get to the blood test so didn't do much..was pretty basic! Since Autumn has arrived, I'm using my Sleek Original palette so much more, as I'm loving the greeny and ambery shades. (Apologies for quality of these photos. I have a fab camera but like I said, was in a rush, lighting was bad and just clicked 'take'! Hello grainy-ness!)

Foundation: Diorskin Forever in 022
Powder: MAC Loose Powder in Natural Flare
Blush: MAC Pinch O Peach
Eyeshadow: Sleek Original Palette
Mascara: Collection 2000 Skyscraper
Lips: MAC Sweet and Single Barbie

I'm not a massive fan of these 2 photos as I was in a rush and I think it's fairly obvious I was! However, I want to start doing more FOTD's so will try not to mind so much..we all have our good makeup days and bad makeup days!

For those who don't follow me on Twitter, I mentioned yesterday that I've updated my blog sale! There's a couple of bits of Benefit, Dior and Clinique for sale. Have a browse! Hope you're all having a lovely week.

keep calm and carry on

26 September 2011

My new Blackberry phone case came in the post over the weekend, and I just have to show you all how fabulous it is. I'm a total Blackberry baby and couldn't be without it, and so I always have some form of of case on it to protect it. I have a couple of cases but I seem to go through phases where I use it so much, I completely wear it out, and so a new one was definitely on the cards, and here it is:

Don't you just love it? It's a jelly case and fits the Blackberry Bold. The 'Keep Calm and Carry On' phrase has been all the hype in the last year or so, but it was first around in WW2 to keep morale going. I personally love this phrase as it does give you a little boost when you think things arn't going your way. As I'm sure you're all aware, there's now a massive memorabilia craze going with this style of advertising and merchandise, more recently being seen in adverts and posters etc. My fave poster is my 'Keep Calm and Eat Cupcakes' one!

As you can see, it's time to put my last Blackberry case in the bin. My Juicy Couture case was worth the money and lasted absolutely ages, but it's been a bit bashed up in my jeans pocket and bag, colouring has started to go and the plastic has started peeling off.

If anyone is interested in buying this case, I have found it on eBay for Blackberry Curve, Blackberry Bold and iPhone

Also, just a quick thank you for all the lovely comments on my last FOTD post. I received more views than ever on that post so, would you all like to see more FOTD's? If you enjoy those posts I am happy to do more of them. Let me know!

making memories #1

22 September 2011

Every so often I think I'm going to share some of my fave current photos. I won't do like a week in photos, just a couple that have been taken within the last few days and make me happy.

My 'His and Hers' pillows - I love these so much. They were from Urban Outfitters and were given to me by my boyfriend to have on the bed whenever he gets to stay (he's in the Royal Navy, but I shall save that for another day!). The blue italic writing is relaxing and romantic and matches perfectly with the bold pink sheets I have. Absolute love.

This my lovely people, is my shower curtain. Isn't it the coolest shower curtain you have ever seen?! Cartoon drawn animals..what could be better? It's always a nice sight in the morning when I'm having my shower and getting ready for work, and puts a little smile on my face.

A bottle or two of Chablis, shared with my boyfriend last weekend, relaxing and chilling, watching tv, candles on, having a laugh and enjoying each others company. You can even see a glimpse of a photo of us in the background. We only usually get the weekends together, so it's important for us to enjoy our time together, and this photo says a lot. I wouldn't change our relationship for the world.

Hope you've made lots of good memories in the last week.

Native Spirit: Pocahontas meets Uggs

21 September 2011

When ASOS have a special offer going on, I am on that website like a tramp on chips, and with the free next day delivery that they had on offer yesterday, how could I have said no?! After a good browse around the website, and the fact that it really is starting to look like Winter (dark at 4pm?! hellll no) I settled on a new pair of ankle boots:

My God am I in love. I don't buy ankle boots unless I'm certain, and I am so certain about these  Apache Shearling boots. The shearling lining is just so soft and the tassels on the side of the boots are somewhat different to most tassels, giving it a really interesting effect. I will be wearing these loads these season and what's more, they fit like an absolute glove. Perfect.

You can buy these boots on the ASOS website here but they also do them in tan and grey. They were £30 but with the 20% off offer on at the moment and free delivery, they were only £24. Absolute steal. Enter code HAPPYLFW at checkout to get your 20% off but hurry as the offer finishes at the end of London Fashion Week.

Wishlist #5

16 September 2011

Last day of my Weekday Wishlist series, and today I'm featuring printed tees. Underneath that gorgeous knitted jumper or cardigan is a t-shirt and I love having feature tees that might give people who don't know you a snippet of what you might be like.

*1. I think this tee says a lot about me. It's a bold statement, but something I stand by. When you love someone, make sure they know it. Love is everything. £18.00

*2. Ok so this could have been included on Wishlist #2 (Animal Themed Fashion) but it's on this wishlist. My love with foxes continues and this tee is so simple yet striking. Another great tee by ASOS. £18.00

*3. This top stuck out to me because I have a photo of my boyfriend and I doing exactly the same thing. We're both matching our brogues up together except mine are a couple of sizes smaller. It makes me smile so much. £50.00

*4. One of my favourite animals in the whole world are tigers. I absolutely love them and one of my dreams is to work with them. It's a far off dream but I hope to do it all the same. I have a couple of tiger print tees but I particularly love this one from Therapy. £16.50

*5. This tee has been seen on a number of celebs and it's been on my list for a while. Conveniently it's now down in the sale! Hurray! £22.00

*6. Now, as many are aware, I am obsessed with Disney - I will NOT grow up just yet, and so this tshirt fits me just perfectly! The washed out effect is just fab! I think I have 4 disney tees, so I might as well round it up to a nice even 5 ;) £26.99

So that is my Weekday Wishlist series complete! It's been great fun to do and I now have a wishlist as long as both my arms put together, but at least it gives me something to work for. Hopefully some of you will have seen some items they may be interested in too.

I would also like to say a quick thank you to all my followers to getting me to 150 followers. I never ever thought I would get anywhere near this, and it does mean so much to me. Your comments and tweets mean so much to me. Thank you all very much!

Wishlist #3

14 September 2011

Today my A/W wishlist is hosiery. I absolutely love wearing patterned tights, coloured tights, knee high socks etc and look forward to Winter just so I can buy them! These are my wishlist choices (and I have narrowed it down!)

*1. These single stripe tights are just fantastic. They give away a little bit of sexy without being too OTT. I need these in my life for a night out! £10.00

*2. I love love love the bow design on these tights. They're incredibly sexy but hold a little bit of innocence somehow. £7.00

Sexy sexy sexy! These say naughty secretary to me or something similar, and I can see these being great for a party around the Christmas/New Year period. £6.00

*4. How divine are these Burlington Argyle socks? Black bodycon skirt, cosy jumper and these socks, watching tv all cuddly on a cold evening. I am picturing it now! And in 5 colours, that's one pair for the whole weekday! I also love the detailing of the button. £15.00

Ok so I really had to narrow that down as I could have put so much in this wishlist, but at least hosiery isn't over expensive! Does anyone else look forward to A/W so they can snuggle up in tights and socks?

Wishlist #2

13 September 2011

Today's A/W wishlist is clothes/accessories with animal themes.

*1. Everybody loves a foxy gentleman! We're not old fashioned anymore, and people don't want to see a real fur fox stole, so what's the alternative? A knitted fox tippet scarf! This is just too cute with the ears and tail, and big knitted design would definitely keep you super warm in the A/W months. Head to River Island for this tippet scarf. £15.00

*2. If you're a fan of the Lion King, or just lions in general, then this will tick all your boxes! A gorgeous cream knitted tippet scarf with the lion head at the front, and again it's from River Island. £15.00

*3. I absolutely love printed jumpers. They are so versatile in that you can wear them relaxed with jeans or smarter with a shirt underneath. This horse print jumper is perfect for any occasion, and if you don't fancy the mustard colour, ASOS also do it in a light blue colour. £35.00

*4. Anyone who loves owl prints will love this jumper. The patches on the shoulders are a very country feeling additive and the owl print isn't your typical design. To me it feels more modern and arty, and it's got something about it that isn't too in your face but will get people's attention. A great item from Eleven Paris. £97.50

Does anyone else love animal themed fashion? Let me know your faves!

Wishlist #1

12 September 2011

Everyday this week I will be giving you my wishlists for this A/W, featuring a different type of item each day. Today is Monday, and today is coats.

*1. This tan coat from Asos is just stunning in my eyes. I love double breasted coats, and have a weakness for coats with pleats in, so this just fits the bill. PLUS, with the added leopard print (and we know how much I love leopard print!) this is ticks every box. £95.00

*2. I actually have a Barbour wax coat but I'd like to invest in a new one. These coats are absolutely timeless and if you look after them, they last for literally decades. Perfect for anyone who loves walks in the forest with family, friends and dogs! £179.00

*3. To me, this is just the perfect faux fur coat, and it's leopard print! Biba have got it so right with the oversized collar and I love the fact the coat seems to be the perfect length: it isn't too long but isn't too short. I could wear this coat to everywhere I go. Get in my life! £195.00

4. 5.

*4. I can see this coat being the perfect item to wear to and from work, or to and from a nice meal or event, like a big Christmas party or New Year. It's an interesting play on a normal coat, sort of mixed with a kimono style belt and a big drape collar. Absolutely gorgeous.  £95.00

*5. Oh Ralph Lauren. My love affair with RL will be eternal. This riding style jacket is just stunning. Match it with skinny jeans, a stripy shirt, tan boots and you're ready to go. The suede collar is just divine and the tailoring is beyond beautiful. Everyone should have a jacket like this in their wardrobe. £260.00

So those are my A/W coats that are on my wishlist. Hopefully I will get my hands on at least one as I look forward to buying a new Winter coat every year. Let me know your fave coats for A/W.

Have a great week and stay tuned for tomorrows wishlist!

Johnson's Facial Routine

10 September 2011

As you may know, I am a huge lover of the Johnson's products. I use everything from the bubble bath to the moisturiser, the baby wipes to the body wash, and the list goes on. I just wanted to show you my daily morning facial routine, and the products I use..namely, Johnson's!

The two products I have been recently using is from the new Daily Essentials range. I have been using the gentle exfoliating wash and the nourishing 24hour day cream. In the mornings, I will splash my face with water and then apply the gentle exfoliating wash. It has teeny tiny exfoliating beads that you can hardly see, but can feel gently scrubbing at your skin. The consistency is not too thin and not too thick (which I like because I hate feeling like I'm caking my face in thick product) and the smell is typically Johnson and smells fresh, cottony and baby like!

After I've washed the exfoliator off (and patted my face dry) I then apply the 24hour nourishing day cream. Now I love this day cream because it comes in a glass tub. I don't know about you, but having things in a glass tub makes me feel like I have a much more luxurious product than when it's in a tube, also because you can get more of the product out and don't have to spend ages squeezing the dregs. The moisturiser has SPF 15 which is an added bonus. Consistency is very creamy, and from the minute it's on your skin, you can feel it doing it's job. The smell is, again, typically Johnson, and leaves you feeling refreshed.
Apologies for quality of this photo. Not sure what Blogger has done to it! Stupid Blogger!

I am absolutely in love with these products. I cannot praise them enough. The 24hour moisturiser really does stand true to it's claim I think. I honestly feel that my skin is a lot softer and supple when I wake up in the mornings, even with heat and make up etc. The price is even better. The day cream is £4.07 and the exfoliating wash is £3.15 - to me this makes my products even better; they work and they don't break the bank in any way!

The Daily Essentials facial care range is quite big now with a variety of creams and washes (they also do a 24hour night cream for those who like to have moisturiser on at night) and there is a lovely deal at Boots at the moment which is 2 Johnson's facial products for £5. If I were you, I'd run down there and immediately stock up..I know I have!

Trind - Miracle Nails!

7 September 2011

We are all on the search for a product which makes our nails stronger, less brittle and makes them grow beautifully without breaking if we catch them on something...maybe I have the answer! For those who don't know about this product, I'd like to introduce you to Trind.

Trind is a Dutch company which focuses on hand and nail products. They have been active since 1988 and are now making their way into bigger stores and salons all over the world. Trind focuses on nail health more than anything, and making your nails more moisturised and stronger. This is where my favourite nail product comes in play: Trind Nail Repair Natural.

Trind states that the unique formula of this nail strengthener matches the protein molecules which 'create a rigid structure that makes the nail stronger'. The importance in Trind Nail Repair is that the moisture in your nail stays locked in, meaning that your nail will not lose its suppleness and keep its colour (no-one wants the yellow tinge!).

Now I know there are a lot of nail strengtheners on the market, but my mum and I have not found anything quite so amazing as this formula. Forget Sally Hansen, forget OPI - if you're after a nail strengthener that works, try this formula!! Since using Trind, my nails have never been so strong, ever. And the rate that they grow is quite amazing! My mum has now introduced Trind to her salon and her clients have all given it great reviews!

Trind recommends applying the formula daily for two weeks, and once a week after that to upkeep the moisture in your nails. I URGE you to try this. You can generally buy Trind products from good pharmacies but I doubt it will be too long till they are in big stores. They also do a whole load of nail polishes and nail care products so check it all out! The price for 9mls is generally around £10-13 but varies on different stores.

Check to find your local seller and for more information.

A Little Bit of Summer

5 September 2011

As some of you may know, I will always be a MAC Lipstick junkie, and I love the shades that come out in their limited edition collections. I thought this years Summer 'Fashion Flower' Collection was beautiful and one of my favourite items was of course, a lipstick!

Summer Shower' is not your normal shade of lipstick. It's a glaze, and I am a fan of glaze for when I'm not after something too heavy or in your face, which is perfect for work. In the tube, it appears as a greeny, minty shade with aqua blue sparkles in - sounds slightly scary maybe?! On the lips however, it comes out as a pearly iridescent shade with sparkles that shine aqua, purple, pink and a hint of mint. It's truly mesmerizing. I'd been umming and ahhing about getting this lipstick since the day it came out as it's so interesting, but was never too sure. However, when I saw it was goodbye section of the MAC website, I knew I had to get it! It is beautiful on the lips as it just catches the light and gives you a hint of glitter and glamour. I can see it becoming a huge favourite of mine. For clear lip gloss lovers, this would look stunning under a clear gloss!

Unfortunately it's now been discontinued as it was a limited edition item. However, if you are after something similar or like iridescent shades, MAC Pervette is a good one to try instead (swatch on my swatch page!). I will try and get a lip swatch of this on my MAC lipstick swatch page during the week!

Was anyone else as intrigued by this shade as much as me or love iridescent shades too? I would love to know! Hope you all have a fabulous week!
